BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The application period for nominations
to the Broward County Charter Review Commission (CRC) is now open. The Board of
County Commissioners seeks interested constituents to submit an application to
serve on the CRC by Friday, November 13, 2026. Appointments are anticipated to be made at the Board's first meeting in
January 2027.
The Broward County Charter serves as the Constitution for
Broward County Government. Article VI of the Charter establishes that at the
first County Commission meeting in January 2027, and every 12 years thereafter,
the County Commission shall appoint a CRC, which conducts a comprehensive
review of the Broward County Charter and proposes amendments or revisions.
Each of the County's nine Commissioners will make two
appointments per district, and there will be one at-large appointment. To apply
to serve on the CRC, you must be a registered voter in Broward County and not
presently serving as an employee of the County or Florida legislator, County
Commissioner, or County constitutional officer.
The new Charter Review Commission begins its work in January
2027, and members will serve through the day following the 2028 general
election.
The application form is now available at broward.org/charter/CRC. All applicants will see a confirmation page after submitting indicating
that their application has been received. If you have any questions, please contact the Office of
Intergovernmental Affairs at 954-357-7347 or intergovernmental@broward.org.
