BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Award-winning
journalist Jeff Goodell will serve as the second Keynote Speaker
for the 2026
Southeast Florida Regional Climate Leadership Summit, hosted this year by
Broward County on November 4-6, 2026, at the recently expanded Broward County
Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale.
Jeff Goodell is an acclaimed
author and expert on humanity's relationship with our rapidly changing planet.
His latest New York Times bestselling book, "The Heat Will Kill You First:
Life and Death on a Scorched Planet," is an in-depth understanding of heat
and the impact that sizzling temperatures will have on people's lives and the world.
Goodell mixes scientific insight with on-the-ground storytelling to offer vital
perspective on how to stem the tide of environmental change.
"As Southeast Florida and communities across the globe increasingly experience soaring temperatures, and most notably the specific impacts of this year's El Niño, Jeff Goodell's expertise on heat and heat-related challenges makes him a highly relevant speaker for the 2026 Climate Leadership Summit," said Broward County Chief Resilience Officer Dr. Jennifer Jurado. The Summit is the flagship event
of the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact, a partnership
launched in 2009 between Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe, and Palm Beach Counties
to coordinate climate mitigation and adaptation across the region. This year's
theme, "Capitalizing on Climate: Action Through Innovation,"
emphasizes the opportunity to pioneer regional solutions and spur economic
growth through new technologies and leading practices.
The engaging three-day program
kicks off with a technology-focused Innovation Day on Wednesday, November 4,
followed by two days of programming featuring global, national, and local
