BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The Broward County Board of County Commissioners has awarded a multi year agreement to Motorola Solutions Connectivity, Inc. to serve as the County's Next Generation 911 (NG911) Core Services Provider. This marks a major step forward in modernizing Broward County's emergency communications system.
Following a competitive Request for Proposal (RFP) process, Motorola Solutions will deliver a National Emergency Number Association (NENA) i3 compliant NG911 System, providing a secure, resilient Emergency Services IP Network (ESInet) and Next Generation Core Services for all Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) in Broward County.
What NG911 Means for Broward County
NG911 replaces legacy analog systems with a fully digital, broadband-based platform. The transition will enable PSAPs to receive voice, text, images, video, and data, while also improving accuracy, reliability, and regional coordination. Key benefits include:
• Enhanced access to 911 through voice, text, or multimedia
• Improved location accuracy through advanced geospatial routing
• Increased resiliency with built in redundancy and network diversity
• Seamless interoperability across agencies and jurisdictions
• Future ready capability for emerging technologies
• Strengthened cybersecurity protections and compliance with national standards
A Commitment to Public Safety
"Broward County is proud to lead the way in public safety innovation," said Mayor Mark D. Bogen. "With Next Generation 911, we are ensuring that our residents and first responders have access to the most advanced and resilient emergency communications system available. This transition will save lives and strengthen our community for years to come."
"This investment in NG911 is a testament to Broward County's dedication to public safety, innovation, and service to our community," said Tracy Jackson, Director of the Office of Regional Communications and Technology. "We are building a safer, more connected future for all residents and visitors."
The NG911 transition will roll out over the next 12-18 months and will include extensive testing, training, and stakeholder outreach to ensure a smooth implementation.
