Broward County Library's All-Ages Summer Learning Program Begins June 1st

- Attend awesome events and register to win great prizes through August 8th

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Every summer, Broward County Library (BCL) welcomes thousands of residents for programs and reading prizes as part of the all-ages Summer Learning Program, held June 1st through August 8th throughout its 37 library branches. The kick-off event, the 21st Annual Children's BookFest, is scheduled from 10AM to 3PM on Saturday, May 30th at West Regional Library.

This year's theme of "Unearth a Story" comes to life as the public is invited to embark on an expedition of art and creativity. "Unearth a Story" offers library attendees of all ages a summer of discovery-themed workshops, games, contests, crafts, musical and theatrical productions, programs and fun classes, along with exciting books that explore wellness, art, travel, and science.

Youth Services Coordinator Kimberly White explained why it is critical to keep children challenged, active, and pursuing literacy when school is not in session. "It's important for students to be engaged in quality learning and community experiences over the summer," says White. "Studies have shown that by doing so, going back to school in the fall is easier and more successful."

In addition to free summer events and activities, readers and learners can register for the Summer Learning Program beginning May 1st. Registered Summer Learning Program participants are eligible to win great prizes from a variety of local community organizations and businesses, such as Museum of Discovery and Science, Young At Art Museum, Florida Panthers, Pirate Bluefoot Adventures, Miami Zoo, MadArts, Butterfly World, and more.

All Summer Learning Program events and activities are free of charge, supplies included. For questions or additional information, please contact Youth Services Outreach at BCLsummer@broward.org or 954-357-7336.

The 2026 Summer Learning Program is sponsored by the Broward Public Library Foundation, Friends of Broward County Library, Community Foundation of Broward, Charles F. & Esther M. Frye Foundation, JM Family Enterprises, Florida Power & Light Company (FPL), Florida Virtual School, and Children's Services Council of Broward County.
