Broward County Library Now Offers MERGE Virtual Reality Headsets

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County Library and MERGE, the leader in augmented and virtual reality learning products, are teaming up for a new initiative that lets library customers check out and take home the award-winning MERGE AR/VR (Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality) Headsets for use in conjunction with the MERGE Cube, the device that allows you to hold virtual objects in the palm of your hand.

The MERGE Cubes and MERGE Headsets bring MERGE’s 3D content to life – users can access over 300 kid-safe VR and 360 video experiences from sources such as NASA, National Geographic, Disney Google and even your Android or iOS smartphones.

The MERGE Headsets, which will be available at nine Broward County Library locations, are part of a unique pilot program launched by Library Director Kelvin Watson in 2018 that’s designed to bring innovative, cutting-edge technology to the community – for free. That program also allows library card holders to check out digital tablets, robotic equipment, portable Internet hot spots and MERGE Cube, which are recommended for users ages 10 and up.

"More and more, today's modern library is seeking innovative ways to improve how our customers access information and how we deliver it," says Watson. "The MERGE Cube and Headsets are an amazing way to offer library users an interactive and immersive learning experience."

The new MERGE Headsets will be available at the following Broward County Library locations:
