BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County Transit joined City of Fort Lauderdale and many Wave Streetcar partners today at the Wave Streetcar Industry Forum where the Florida Department of Transportation announced the completion of the Wave Streetcar's project design phase.

Funding is now in place to advance the project to the next stage. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will start Design-Build procurement process for Design-Build teams to bid on the project.  It is anticipated to be advertised in July 2016, which will lead to a price opening of the construction bids in the spring of 2017.

Potential Design-Build teams including contractors, subcontractors, design consultants, and streetcar vehicle manufacturers, took notes and asked questions about the important elements and considerations of this proposed contract.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) also announced the Wave Streetcar Public Information Workshop which will take place May 25, 2016 from 4:30 to 7:30PM, at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Riverview Ballroom located at 201 SW 5th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312. The goal of the workshop is to provide interested parties with information about the project and to provide an opportunity to ask questions and make comments.  Read more at
