BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Broward County until midnight tonight. A tornado watch means tornadoes, high winds, and hail are possible in the watch area. Take shelter in a windowless room or closet if you hear a tornado approaching.

Broward County Mayor Barbara Sharief has announced a countywide curfew for Broward County starting at 4PM today, Saturday, September 9th for everyone's safety. All residents and businesses are expected to observe the curfew.

Exemptions to the curfew include essential personnel such as law enforcement, fire-rescue, hospital or other healthcare workers, emergency management personnel, and others involved in recovery efforts. Those personnel should carry identification with them.

Tropical storm force winds are expected to begin today at 2PM. Hurricane force winds are expected to begin Sunday. Ten to twenty inches of rain and a 2 - 4 ft storm surge is expected.
