BROWARD COUNTY, FL - County staff, along with County vendors, have successfully moved a majority of the old courthouse occupants to the new Broward County Judicial Complex West Building, leaving a small number of Judges and their staff still operating out of the old Courthouse building. The vast majority of public business is now operating in the new building on SE Sixth Street in Fort Lauderdale.

During the transitional move period, the public has been able to access the main courthouse location from three areas, but that is changing.

Effective May 1, 2017, the public, attorneys and employees will no longer be able to use the main entrance of the old County courthouse; access will only be allowed through the new Broward County Judicial Complex West Building and the east bridge pedestrian walkway entrance areas. Entry will still require going through the screening process and appropriate security personnel will remain in place through the secured entrances.

With the new Courthouse opening in March 2017, work continues on other projects to the Judicial Complex including major renovation to the East Wing and Midrise buildings, demolition of the old Courthouse building and construction of a new 500 car parking garage and public plaza in its place.
