40 New Affordable Single Family Homes Coming to the Municipal Services District

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The Board of County Commissioners today authorized the Housing Finance and Community Redevelopment Division of Broward County to enter into Development Agreements with ten Broward County nonprofit housing agencies, awarding four lots to each, for the purpose of constructing a total of forty new affordable single family homes in the Broward Municipal Services District.

The nonprofit agencies are required to build homes with a minimum of 1,500-square-feet, three bedrooms, two-baths and a two-car garage. Agencies shall obtain permits within six months and complete construction 12 months after permitting. 

The homes will be available for purchase through a lottery system to very-low to moderate-income households who qualify for first mortgage financing with an approved lender and who will use the homes as their primary residence. The County may also provide purchase assistance for qualified buyers. All new buyers are required to attend homeowner education class and meet current Housing Finance and Community Redevelopment Division underwriting criteria for the home purchase and loans. 

Applications will be available starting April 3, 2017 at Housing Finance and Community Redevelopment Division or online at The application period will be open until 12PM, May 26, 2017 and completed applications should be delivered in person to the following address:

The 2017 BMSD consists of 11.4 square miles with an estimated population of 14,759. The Board of County Commissioners is the governing body of the BMSD and the provider of its municipal services that include, but are not limited to, business development, building permitting and housing development, libraries and parks facilities, roadway maintenance, street enhancements, and zoning and code enforcement.
