Aide to Commissioner Nan Rich
BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County Commissioner Nan H. Rich has been appointed to the Florida Legislature's newly created Affordable Housing Workgroup as the Florida Association of Counties designee. The new workgroup will make public policy recommendations to expand the availability of safe and affordable workforce housing for all Floridians.
"Through my service on the Coordinating Council of Broward, the Homeless Continuum of Care Board, and other human services organizations, I have seen clearly that affordable housing is essential for the wellbeing and productivity of individuals and families," states Commissioner Rich. "It is meaningful and appropriate that Broward County has a seat at the table for these discussions. Broward is one of the most cost-burdened metropolitan areas in the United States. In fact, South Florida ranks #1 in the gap between low wages and high cost of housing."
The Workgroup is legislatively mandated to submit its recommendations to the Governor, the President of the Senate, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives by January 1, 2018.
