BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County's Historic Preservation Board will host a special outreach workshop on Thursday, June 15, 2017, 2PM, at Broward County Governmental Center, 115 South Andrews Avenue, Room 302, Ft. Lauderdale.
The workshop provides an opportunity for municipalities to discuss local historic preservation; the benefits of becoming a Florida Certified Local Government (CLG); resources available through Broward's own CLG program; and an initiative to amend the County's historic preservation ordinance to strengthen local historic preservation.
Ruben Acosta, a Survey and Registration Supervisor with the Florida Department of State, Division of Historical Resources, will discuss the State program, grant opportunities and other benefits of becoming a CLG.
City planners, local historic preservation staff, administrators, and board members, as well as support groups and societies will have an opportunity to provide feedback. The workshop is an open forum for municipalities and the county to discuss programmatic goals, assistance, cooperation and services.

About the Broward Historic Preservation Board:
The Historic Preservation Board designates or recommends for designation historic resource sites and districts, reviews applications for National Register nominations, reviews Certificate of Appropriateness applications and generally assists to protect, identify, educate and advocate for Broward's significant historic and archaeological sites. The U.S. Department of the Interior and the Florida Department of State's Division of Historical Resources designated Broward County's Historic Preservation program as a Certified Local Government (CLG). This designation affirms the County's commitment to historic preservation and solidifies the partnership with the State's Bureau of Historic Preservation.
