BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Animal Care, the County's official pet adoption and animal welfare agency, is partnering with BISSELL Pet Foundation for its national Empty the Shelters campaign, offering free dog and cat adoptions now through Wednesday, September 30. During the campaign, the foundation will cover adoption fees for eligible pets awaiting loving forever homes. Adopters must still pay the Broward County pet registration fee. View available pets

"Every adoption changes two lives - the life of the pet going home and the life of the animal that can be helped because space has opened at the shelter," said Doug Brightwell, Director of Broward County Animal Care. "Through our partnership with BISSELL Pet Foundation, we are removing a financial barrier and making it easier for residents to welcome a deserving dog or cat into their family."

Reducing the upfront cost of adoption helps connect more shelter pets with families. Each successful placement also creates critical capacity for Animal Care to receive and serve other vulnerable animals entering the shelter. Fewer animals in the facility can reduce stress, allow staff and volunteers to provide more individualized attention, and improve the overall quality of life for the dogs and cats who remain in Animal Care's custody.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this limited-time opportunity, whether they are searching for an energetic companion, a laid-back lap cat or a loyal new best friend. Adopters should select pets that complement their household, lifestyle and ability to provide lifelong care.
