- Construction begins August 31 -

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The County's Highway Construction and Engineering Division, in partnership with contractor J&D Concrete Works Corp., will begin construction on Monday, August 31, 2026, for the NE 26th Street Road Improvement Project in Wilton Manors. Funding is provided by the Penny for Transportation Surtax (MAP Broward). Construction is expected to be completed in Summer 2027, barring any unforeseen conditions or weather-related delays.

The project, occurring in District 4 and represented by Commissioner Lamar Fisher, will extend along NE 26th Street from west of NE 13th Avenue to east of NE 25th Street. It is designed to enhance infrastructure and improve safety for all corridor users. Improvements include roadway resurfacing, drainage and utility upgrades, sidewalk and ADA enhancements, and beautification and landscaping improvements.

During construction, motorists should expect temporary daytime lane closures and possible delays and are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time. Pedestrian crossings will remain accessible, with clearly marked detours provided when necessary. Access to businesses and residences will be maintained throughout the project.

Residents, businesses, and motorists with questions, concerns, or emergencies may contact Broward County Construction Project Manager James Jeffers, P.E., at 954-577-4573.

The County appreciates your patience as we complete this important roadway safety project.
