BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The County's Public Works and Environmental Services Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division will be performing maintenance repairs on the existing sidewalk and ADA-accessible pedestrian curb ramps along Douglas Road (also known as Pine Island Road), from Taft Street to Sheridan Street, within the cities of Pembroke Pines and Cooper City (see map attached). Construction for this gas tax-funded project is expected to begin Monday, July 6, and will conclude in December 2026, barring any unforeseen conditions or weather-related delays.
During construction, a single lane, both northbound and southbound, will remain open for vehicular traffic. Access to driveways will remain available throughout the duration of the project, and pedestrians will be detoured around the work zone. Additionally, work near Pasadena Lakes Elementary School will be done during public school summer recess to minimize impacts on school traffic.
This project occurs within two Commission districts: District 5 represented by Commissioner Steve Geller and District 7 represented by Commissioner Alexandra P. Davis.
