BROWARD COUNTY, FL - In celebration of the nation's 250th Anniversary, Broward County Library (BCL) debuted a new Broward County Library card design featuring the American flag. The card features a furling American flag, the historic dates of this milestone, and the library's logo, all in red, white and blue. It will be available at all Broward County library locations on Friday, June 26th.
The patriotic library card represents one facet of the many celebratory initiatives of the library, which will include special displays, events, and programs. Be a part of the festivities all year by checking for America 250 events.
This new card is one of several design choices offered by the library. Other card choices include 2026 Library of the Year, Sunny the Manatee, Stronger Together, Coastal Sunrise, Florida Panthers, and the card declaring "I Read Banned Books," which can be viewed on the library's website.
There is no charge for an all-access library card to those who live, work or go to school in Broward County, which can be used to check out materials online or at any one of the library's 37 branches. The card can be used for computer access, and to access downloadable movies, music, magazines, eBooks and more. Whatever materials customers check out, they no longer face fines for late returns.
From reserving materials to accessing online resources, Broward County Library wants to know how customers use their cards. Library card holders are asked to and asks library members to share how they use their cards by sharing stories, photos, and videos on social media with the hashtag #IAmBCL.
