BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County Library (BCL) has been awarded a $5,500 grant by Florida Humanities, the statewide, nonprofit affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). With these funds, BCL will expand its circulating collection with more than 300 new titles that encourage readers to reflect on America's past, present, and future as we celebrate the nation's 250 anniversary.

Through Florida Humanities' America250 Book Collection Grants initiative, 23 public libraries across the state, including BCL, are receiving funding to enhance their collections with books that explore the people, events, and ideas that have shaped the American experience.

Eight library locations: Hollywood Branch, Lauderhill Central Park Library, Miramar Branch, Main Library, Pembroke Pines/Walter C. Young Resource Center, Pompano Beach Branch, Sunrise Dan Pearl Branch, and Tamarac Branch will also receive materials to create America250-themed displays featuring recommended reading lists for both youth and adult audiences, helping spark meaningful community conversations continuing from the present through September 30.

"I am delighted to accept this generous grant from Florida Humanities, as we celebrate the nation's 250th anniversary," said Allison Grubbs, Director of Broward County Library. "This special occasion in our country's history deserves the enthusiasm that goes hand in hand with knowledge."

Florida Humanities, the statewide, nonprofit affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, is dedicated to preserving, promoting, and sharing the history, literature, culture, and personal stories that offer Floridians a better understanding of themselves, their communities, and their state.
