BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County Library presents "American Revolution: The 250th Anniversary Experience," a free and unique three-venue travelling show from July 1 to October 5, where visitors re-live key moments in the American Revolution by combining world class scholarship and 3D technologies.
The augmented exhibition schedule is as follows:
From daily life in Colonial Virginia to Valley Forge, from rising tensions in Boston to Washington's daring Delaware crossing-and finally the victory at Yorktown-this augmented exhibition plunges visitors into the defining moments of America's birth.
History is brought to life with HistoPads, virtual reality devices used in a wide variety of cultural sites, including museums, monuments, and tourist attractions. The eight life-size digital recreations in which visitors will participate include: Colonial Virginia - Williamsburg, VA, 1765; Boston, Revolution Begins - Boston, MA, 1770-1773; Lexington and Concord, Lexington, Concord, MA, 1775; Declaration of Independence, Philadelphia, PA, 1776; The Battle of Kings Mountain, Kings Mountain National Military Park, SC, 1780; "Yo Solo" at Pensacola, Pensacola, FL, 1781; Yorktown, the Power of Alliance, Yorktown, VA, 1781; and Creation of a Nation, New York City, NY, 1789.
The "American Revolution: The 250th Anniversary Experience," exhibition issues each visitor a HistoPad, a portable, touch-screen tablet that is easy to use for all ages. Users can explore freely, meet historical figures, embark on treasure hunts, track down war relics, and uncover stories at their own pace.
Developed with leading historians, in partnership with the Museum of the American Revolution, the project combines rigorous research with cutting-edge technology to spark exploration, discovery, and renewed insight into the past. All facets of the exhibition and receptions are free; registration is required for both at each location.
The "American Revolution: The 250th Anniversary Experience," is generously sponsored by the Broward Public Library Foundation and underwritten by BBX Capital Foundation.
