BCT Hosted TransitFORWARD 2040 Public Meeting in District 1

- Community input guides Broward Countys long-term transit planning efforts

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County Transit (BCT), in collaboration with District 1 Commissioner Nan Rich, hosted a public meeting on April 20, 2026, at the Weston Branch Library to present and discuss the TransitFORWARD 2040 Vision Plan. The meeting provided residents with an opportunity to learn about TransitFORWARD 2040, Broward County's long-term, multi-phase strategy to strengthen and modernize the transit system through improved connectivity, expanded access, increased service frequency, and innovative mobility solutions. The plan outlines near-, mid-, and long-term improvements designed to create a more efficient, reliable, and rider-focused network that meets the evolving needs of the community.

"TransitFORWARD 2040 is about listening first and planning with purpose," said Coree Cuff Lonergan, CEO and General Manager of Broward County Transit. "Every conversation with our community helps us shape a transit system that is more connected, more reliable, and better aligned with how people live, work, and move across Broward County."

During the session, BCT representatives shared key recommendations, including the introduction of microtransit zones, enhanced service coverage, and system adjustments aimed at improving efficiency while maintaining access across all communities. These strategies are intended to provide flexible, on-demand options and better connections to major transit hubs throughout the county.

Commissioner Rich and the BCT team engaged directly with attendees, answering questions and gathering feedback to help shape the future of transit in Broward County. Community input remains a critical component of the TransitFORWARD 2040 process, ensuring that planned improvements reflect the needs and priorities of residents.

BCT will continue hosting public meetings across the county in the coming weeks, encouraging residents to participate, share feedback, and stay informed about the future of mobility in Broward County.
