Children's BookFest on May 30th Kicks Off Library's Summer Learning Program
  
  

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Enjoy a free family festival full of music, dancing and stories at the 21st Annual Children's BookFest, the official kick-off for Broward County Library's 2026 Summer Learning Program, held from 10AM to 3PM on Saturday, May 30 at the West Regional Library, 8601 W Broward Boulevard, Plantation, FL 33324.

"Summer at Your Library" begins with the Children's BookFest, a signature program of Broward County Library, ideal for families with preschool and elementary school-age children. Attendees can learn about new library resources for early literacy and sign up for this year's "Unearth a Story" Summer Learning Program.

BookFest is free and open to the public, with registration requestedFeatured Bookfest guests and activities include: 

  • 10:30AM  - Miss Tracy Sings, a music program for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers
  • 10:30AM - Pressed flower workshop with the Broward Art Guild
  • 11:30AM - Salty Sue, The Pirate Lady show, featuring music, magic, original tales of the sea
  • Noon - Indian classical dancing from Rhythms School of Dance
  • Noon - Unearth Your Roots, where teens and adults can explore library genealogy resources
  • 12:30PM - Mama Mia Magic, a family-friendly show with fun, laughs, and surprises.
  • 1PM - Pastel Drawing workshop with the Broward Art Guild
  • 1:45PM - Stilt Walkers with the USVI Mocko Jumbie Stilt Dancers. 
  • 2:30PM - Mixed-Up Fairytale Show, a comical quest to break a spell placed on Sleeping Beauty. 

The 2026 Children's BookFest is presented through collaborations and partnerships with many community partners and is generously funded by The Broward Public Library Foundation, Panera Bread, The Friends of the West Regional Library, Children's Services Council of Broward County, and The City of Plantation.
