June 27, 2018 UPDATE:
The area being sprayed has been expanded. Details can be found in the map attached below.
BROWARD COUNTY, FL – Summer heat and rain brings mosquitoes, which has prompted the need for the Mosquito Control Section to spray some areas of the County to reduce the mosquito larvae population. The mosquito being targeted is the Aedes aegypti, a known disease-carrying mosquito.
Residents and business owners are urged to survey their properties to remove any standing water to prevent mosquito breeding, bites and diseases.
The Mosquito Control Section will proactively perform preventive truck larviciding between the hours of 10PM and 6 AM, weather permitting, June 18-29, 2018 in some areas of Dania Beach, Davie, Hallandale Beach, Hollywood, Miramar, Pembroke Park, Pembroke Pines, West Park. A map of the targeted areas is attached. More specific spray schedule information can be found on the Broward County Mosquito Control Website.
The mosquito larvicide, VectoBac WDG is not harmful to humans, pets, bees, aquatic habitats or environmentally sensitive areas. It's certified by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) and is registered for use by the US Environmental Protection Agency. People living in the area who have registered with the State to be alerted prior to spraying will be notified.
The Broward County Mosquito Control Section works diligently to eliminate mosquitoes and their habitats from Broward's 31 municipalities. You can request mosquito spraying by completing the Mosquito Spray Request Form or calling 954-765-4062.
