BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County Library, in partnership with Florida Center for the Book, invites the community to take part in a new, ongoing initiative: Local Authors @ Broward County Library, beginning July 9, 2018.

The objective of the Local Authors @ Broward County Library program is to spotlight the work of resident Broward County authors who have written and self-published an adult or children’s fiction book.

To assist current and aspiring local authors to develop a following, the Library is adding select books by such authors to their collection of materials available the public and is inviting the community to come and check those works out.

Participating locations where the books will be displayed and available for check out are Main Library and six regional libraries: African American Research Library & Cultural Center, North Regional/Broward College Library, Northwest Regional Library, South Regional/Broward College Library, Southwest Regional Library and West Regional Library.

Local authors who are interested in submitting a book for consideration must be a Broward County resident, self-published, a Broward County Library cardholder and have published an adult or children’s fiction book. Local authors of non-fiction may also submit, as the program will be expanding to other genres in the near future. Please visit our online submission page to submit a title for consideration.

In keeping with the mission statement for the Florida Center for the Book, the local authors program will inspire library customers and the community by celebrating the literary heritage of Florida, bringing readers and writers together to promote books, reading, and libraries.
