BROWARD COUNTY, FL -  A new series of free language classes beginning April 9, 2018, offers teens and adults the opportunity to learn American Sign Language at three Broward County Libraries.

This series of classes on American Sign Language (ASL), taught by The Bridge Outreach for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, not only teaches ASL but knocks down communication barriers by creating awareness about the Deaf Community and its culture.

Students will learn how to communicate through finger spelling, numbering, facial expression, use of space, sentence structure and vocabulary development. The four- and eight–week courses are sponsored by the Friends group at each respective library and materials are provided at no charge.

Classes are limited to 30 people and pre-registration is required. Each class consists of a 60-minute learning session and a 30-minute small group tutoring session.
