BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – The Broward County Ryan White Part A Program will host a presentation titled, “Results: HIV Health and Wellness Study for Gay and Bisexual Men,” from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, May 12, at ArtServe, 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale.

The presentation will focus on the results from a HIV Health and Wellness study conducted in Broward County to seek further understanding of why, after 30 years into the HIV epidemic, gay and bisexual men still account for the highest number of new infections.

The presentation, free and open to the public, will be facilitated by Dr. Marsha Martin, author of the study and former executive director of Washington, D.C. – based AIDS Action and special assistant to former U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Donne E. Shalala.

“The project sought to assess and understand the realities of gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men, and to better understand what factors contribute to this, both from a psychological and behavioral perspective,” said Leonard Jones, manager of the Ryan White Part A Program for Broward County.

About Broward County’s Ryan White Part A Program
Broward County’s Ryan White Part A Program is one of the original 16 eligible metropolitan areas established by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration under the Ryan White Part A Program in 1991. This funding has enabled the County’s program to provide critical life-saving health and support services to more than 7,100 consumers annually through a community partnership of funded providers. Broward County also receives additional funding under the HIV/AIDS Treatment Modernization Act from the Ryan White Minority AIDS Initiative to reduce disparities and improve health outcomes for eligible HIV-positive persons from racial/ethnic minorities. The Ryan White Part A Program is a part of the Community Partnerships Division in the Human Services Department of Broward County.
