BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – On Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at 10 a.m., Broward County Mayor Barbara Sharief along with Broward County Commissioners Sue Gunzburger and Chip LaMarca will join FedEx officials and Aviation Director, Kent George, in welcoming the arrival of the retired FedEx Boeing 727. FedEx is donating the plane to the Broward County Aviation Department for training purposes at FLL.

Parking: Under the bridge across from the facility. Check in at the front door and visitors will
be escorted out to the ramp. Media should arrive by 9:30 a.m. as the aircraft
will land promptly at 10:00 a.m.
Directions: From I-95 north or south, exit at State Road 84 and travel east. Turn right at the
traffic light at S.W. 4th Avenue. Continue to the end of S.W.4th Avenue and turn
right on Perimeter Road. Then turn left at S.W. 34th Street and right into the
parking lot under I- 595.
Since 2000, FedEx has donated 78 of its Boeing 727 aircraft to aviation schools, municipal and airport fire departments, colleges and museums for training and education. The world’s largest express transportation company began donating retired freighters as part of its aircraft fleet modernization program. FedEx is replacing old aircraft with more fuel efficient, lower emission cargo planes.
