BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – The Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau (GFLCVB) are proud to announce the winning of this years’ World Destination Marketing Award.
On Monday, October 7, 2013, the award was presented at the World Route Development Conference held in Las Vegas. Airlines from around the world voted and selected FLL and the GFLCVB for excellence in destination marketing. The panel cited the much anticipated service by Norwegian Air Shuttle as an example of their efforts.
Entries were marked on a range of criteria such as:
- Route development content
- Evidence of relationship with airline
- Innovations ways of marketing to airlines
- Results and effectiveness
- Look and Feel/Creative application
FLL presently ranks 21st in the US in terms of total passenger traffic. With over 600 flights a day, FLL offers non-stop service to more than 60 U.S. cities and international service to Canada, the Bahamas, the Caribbean, Mexico, Latin American, and Europe. In 2012, FLL served 19.5 million domestic and 3.5 million international travelers.
Strategically located in the heart of the South Florida region, FLL is one of the economic engines that drive Broward County and provides 135,000 jobs and generates $10.6 billion annually for the regional economy.
