Experience the competitive excitement at the Broward County Transit (BCT) 31st Annual Local Bus Safety Roadeo at 8 a.m. on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at the Pompano Beach transit facility, 3201 West Copans Road, Pompano Beach.

Nine bus operators will compete by demonstrating their professional driving and technical skills maneuvering a BCT bus through 11 challenging obstacles. The Roadeo event is free and open to the public.

The Roadeo course is designed to test every phase of operations that a bus operator encounters in normal driving situations. The course contains 11 obstacles that test a driver’s ability to negotiate left and right forward turns, passenger stops and judgment problems. Each of the obstacles is assigned a specific point total and points are subtracted for imperfect execution of each obstacle.

The first place winner will represent BCT for the state title by competing in the Florida State Mega Bus Roadeo on March 22, 2013 in Jacksonville, Florida.

Should the BCT bus operator place first in the Florida State Mega Bus Roadeo, he or she will head to Indianapolis, Indiana in early May 2013 to represent Florida in the International Bus Roadeo, and compete against bus operators from around the country for the grand prize trophy.
