Broward County Office of Economic and Small Business Development and the Broward County Purchasing Division will host “How to Do Business with Broward County,” a series of informational workshops designed to assist local entrepreneurs in accessing County procurement opportunities.

The workshops will be held on varying days and times during the third week of every month at multiple locations around the County. The series kicks off on Saturday, January 19, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, at Central Broward Regional Park, 3700 N.W. 11 Place, in Lauderhill. (A complete series schedule is listed below.)

“For 2013, we used a progressive approach and decided to take the series into the various communities to better accommodate the busy schedules of our business owners,” said Jasmine Jones, Community Relations and Outreach Manager, Office of Economic and Small Business Development. “The workshops will be held in every County commission district, including three repeat visits for good measure.”

Also new this year is the inclusion of guest speakers, who will address topical subjects of interest to the business communities. County staff will be on hand to discuss such topics as “What’s New with the Broward County Business Opportunity Act of 2012” and “How to Register as a Vendor with Broward County.”

Local business owners are encouraged to attend the workshop series to learn helpful tips to successfully do business with Broward County Government and gain valuable insight into the County's purchasing processes and its small business certification programs. The workshop series is free and open to the public; preregistration is not required. Individuals requiring accommodations in order to participate in a workshop must make a request at least 10 business days prior to the scheduled workshop.
