More than 500 attendees have registered for the upcoming Go SOLAR Fest. All South Florida residents and small businesses with an interest in bringing solar energy to the area are invited to attend the free event Friday, January 25, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Saturday, January 26, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center, in Fort Lauderdale.

U.S.Representatives Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Ted Deutch; Broward County Mayor Kristin Jacobs; County Commissioners Martin David Kiar, Dale V.C. Holness and Chip LaMarca; and County Administrator Bertha Henry are among scheduled speakers on Friday, January 25.

U.S. Department of Energy Solar Energy Technologies Director Minh Le will provide a presentation about the Department of Energy's vision to advance solar nationwide and County Commissioner Dale V.C. Holness will provide closing remarks on Saturday, January 26.

Presentations on renewable energy will be given by Florida Power & Light, Siemens Industry, Inc., Waste Management, U.S. Department of Energy, Florida Solar Energy Center and the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives and other national, state and local organizations. There will also be an open forum discussion on solar challenges, solutions and recommendations to advance solar regionally and statewide.

All attendees will have an opportunity to visit more than 45 Go SOLAR Fest exhibitors and learn about emerging solar technologies from companies such as:
