A water main break occurred at the intersection of Northwest 31st Ave. and Northwest 26th St., which may have affected the water quality for Broward County Water and Wastewater Services (WWS) customers within the following bounding streets in Fort Lauderdale:

Northwest 31st Ave. to the west; Northwest 26th St. to the north; Northwest 26th Ave./ Northwest 22nd St./Northwest 24th Ave. to the east; and Northwest 19th St. to the south.  (See attached map.)

As a precaution, WWS advises that all water used for drinking and cooking be boiled to a rolling boil for one minute. As an alternative, bottled water may be used.

This precautionary boil water notice will remain in effect until a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink, at which time WWS will issue another notice to rescind the boil water notice.

The boil water order could be lifted as early as Saturday, January 5.
