Christmas Day may be over, but there are still many pets at Broward County Animal Care and Adoption in need of a home before the holiday festivities end.
Beginning Friday, December 28, through Sunday, December 30, residents are invited to take advantage of a special “after Christmas” sales event. All adoption fees for dogs and cats at both Adoption Center locations in Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach will be waived with the donation of a "Wish List" item. All adoptions include spaying/neutering, vaccinations, Broward County pet registration tag and microchip — a value of more than $200! "Wish List" items include:
• Canned dog and cat food
• Dry dog and cat food (all sizes and varieties)
• Cat and dog toys
• Cat litter (non-clumping)
• Dog and cat treats
• Cotton fabric (lightweight, to make bandanas)
• Kuranda dog beds
• MNR (kitten milk replacement) formula
• Kitten bottles and nipples
“We still have many wonderful dogs and cats for adoption just waiting to start the new year off right in a new home,” said Lisa Mendheim, public education coordinator. “By waiving our adoption fees this weekend, we are hopeful that as many pets as possible can end their year on a happy note in a loving, new home.”
Broward County’s Animal Care and Adoption is dedicated to providing shelter for lost and surrendered animals as well as the successful adoption of homeless pets. The agency also coordinates the registration of dogs and cats and provides rabies vaccinations to encourage a healthier pet population.
