WHAT: The Broward County Parks and Recreation Division’s Extension Education Section, University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF-IFAS), and Tanawhá Presents announce the opening of registration for the Florida Master Naturalist Coastal Systems and Freshwater Wetlands Courses. Each course will consist of 40 contact hours and will include lectures, videos, live demonstrations, hands-on exercises, laboratories, and field trips to various natural areas in Broward County. After completing the three core modules (Coastal Systems, Freshwater Wetlands, and Upland Habitats) and a group project, each student will receive a certificate and pin, along with permanent posting on the Florida Master Naturalist Graduate Database.

WHERE: Various venues throughout the county. See Coastal Systems and Freshwater Wetlands for details.

WHEN: Coastal Systems: January 7-February 9
Freshwater Wetlands: March 11-April 8


WHO: For ages 21 and up.

HOW: Via online registration only. Cost and sharing-option info also available.

Founded in February 1956 and accredited by the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies, Broward County Parks and Recreation Division manages almost 6,500 acres, encompassing nearly 50 regional parks and nature centers, neighborhood parks, and natural areas at various stages of development. Facilities include water parks, campgrounds, a target range, a stadium, a skate park, an observatory, mountain bike trails, an educational farm with stables, and a velodrome and other sports facilities.
