Broward County Construction Management Division in the Public Works Department was recently notified that the Young At Art Museum/Broward County Library, which opened in May, has won three more awards for design, construction and sustainable energy, all of which was guided by Construction Management. The awards include:
- "2012 Award of Honor" in the Institutional Category from the Fort Lauderdale Chapter of the American Institute of Architects for the award-winning design created by AECOM Design and Glavovic Studios, Inc.
- The Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC-Florida East Coast Chapter) "2012 Excellence in Construction Awards (the Eagle Award)" in the Community/Public Service Category.
- "Greening Your Scene" award by the Town of Davie in the "Nonprofit Organization" category for the green and sustainable environmental practices used in the construction and operations of the facility.
Earlier this year, the Young At Art Museum/Broward County Library won the "Outstanding LEED for New Construction - Public" and the "Outstanding LEED for New Construction - Overall" categories by the U.S. Green Building Council. It is one of only three children's museums in the United States and the first and only museum in Florida (children's or otherwise) to obtain LEED Gold Certification.
A sleek, modern 55,000-square-foot building, Young At Art Museum/Broward County Library is located at 751 S.W. 121 Ave., in Davie, and houses both a free, public Broward County Library and the Young At Art Museum, an innovative children's arts education complex.
