Broward County Purchasing Division has attained its recertification from the Institute for Public Procurement (formerly the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing - NIGP) and received the "Outstanding Agency Accreditation Achievement Award."
The award formally recognizes excellence in public procurement by establishing a body of standards that are indicative of a solid purchasing operation through the demonstration of best practices and high standards of performance.
Few governmental procurement agencies achieve this accreditation status. While the Institute for Public Procurement membership represents more than 2,600 governmental agencies throughout the United States and Canada, only 119 governments have attained this distinction.
"Receiving this accreditation is professional validation of the effort that the Purchasing staff provides to continuously improve the procurement function within Broward County," said Brenda J. Billingsley, director of Purchasing.
Rick Grimm, NIGP chief executive officer, said, "Clearly, Broward County Purchasing Division belongs to an elite group of purchasing organizations that represent the highest sustained standards of quality and efficiency in government. The certification and the achievement it represents bring credibility and recognition to your entity."
