If Cherry Garcia or Chunky Monkey makes you “scream for ice cream,” then now’s your chance to enjoy free Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream at Broward County Animal Care and Adoption.
This weekend, Saturday, September 22, and Sunday, September 23, the Ben & Jerry’s Mobile Scoop Shop from Sawgrass Mills will be at Broward County Animal Care serving up delicious ice cream to all residents who adopt a dog or cat during “Ice Cream Social” weekend.
The Ben & Jerry’s Mobile Scoop Shop will be at the Fort Lauderdale shelter, 1870 S.W. 39 Street, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., both Saturday and Sunday. In addition to free ice cream, special adoption fees will be offered and new pet owners will also receive savings coupons from Pet Supermarket for supplies and food.
“This weekend we invite all residents to bring their kids and their appetite,” says Public Education Coordinator Lisa Mendheim. “Our ice cream social will be the perfect opportunity to have fun and make a difference in the life of a homeless pet!”
Broward Animal Care and Adoption is participating in the ASPCA $100K Challenge, a national adoption event running from August 1 through October 31, with a goal to find homes for 1,636 during the three months. So far, 647 dogs and cats have found a home since the Challenge began. The shelter that saves the most lives during the Challenge has the chance to win the top prize of $100,000!
Broward County’s Animal Care and Adoption is dedicated to providing shelter for lost and surrendered animals as well as the successful adoption of homeless pets. The agency also coordinates the registration of dogs and cats and provides rabies vaccinations to encourage a healthier pet population.
