In celebration of Labor Day, Broward County Animal Care and Adoption will offer special $25 adoption fees to all city, county, state and federal workers who adopt a pet beginning Saturday, September 1, through Friday, September 7, as part of its effort to win the ASPCA $100K Challenge.

In addition to the discounts, adopters will receive special vouchers from Pet Supermarket for supplies and free pet food.

The ASPCA $100K Challenge is a national adoption event running from August 1 through October 31. The goal for Broward County Animal Care and Adoption is to find homes for 1,636 animals in the three month period. So far, 334 dogs and cats have found a home since the Challenge began. The shelter that saves the most lives during the Challenge has the chance to win the top prize of $100,000!

“We need the community to choose adoption as an option,” said Animal Care Administrator Karen Koenig. “We have wonderful pets, just waiting for a second chance at a happy life.”

Broward County’s Animal Care and Adoption is dedicated to providing shelter for lost and surrendered animals as well as the successful adoption of homeless pets. The agency also coordinates the registration of dogs and cats and provides rabies vaccinations to encourage a healthier pet population.
