All of Broward County's motor vehicle registration agencies, including the private auto tag offices, will be closing at 4:30 p.m. Friday, September 7, and will resume business at 9 a.m. Monday, September 10. The closure is to allow the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) Department to consolidate online data services to one location in Tallahassee. This closure also affects the state's online renewal option, GoRenew.com and Broward County's auto tag agencies that are open on Saturday, September 8.
While the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles plans to have the systems operational by 9 a.m. September 10, it is possible some services will not be restored at that time, which can affect business operations in the Broward County's tax collector's office. Broward County customers who are aware that their license plate will expire on or before September 7, should visit an office or GoRenew.com before 4:30 p.m. September 7.
As an agent of the DHSMV, Broward County Records, Taxes and Treasury Division issues state motor vehicle license plates and parking placards, and processes applications for titles on automobile, trucks, mobile homes and boats. Visit broward.org/RecordsTaxesTreasury for details.
