The excitement continues as Broward County Animal Care and Adoption welcomes the new school year with special adoption discounts for returning students, as well as teachers, who adopt a dog or cat beginning Saturday, August 18, through Friday, August 24.
In addition to the discounts, adopters will receive:
- Special Paw Hero backpack
- Pencils and other fun gifts
- Application for a free Broward County library card
- Reading list of pet-related books for students of all ages to check out from the library and enjoy
- Savings coupons from Pet Supermarket for supplies and food
Student or teacher ID must be presented at the time of adoption. All schools – both public and private – are eligible to participate.
Since the challenge began on August 1, Broward County Animal Care has saved 173 dogs and cats. In order to be considered for the top prize of $100,000, Animal Care must successfully adopt 300 more pets than it did during the same period in 2011, which totals a whopping 1,636 dogs and cats.
Broward County’s Animal Care and Adoption is dedicated to providing shelter for lost and surrendered animals as well as the successful adoption of homeless pets. The agency also coordinates the registration of dogs and cats and provides rabies vaccinations to encourage a healthier pet population.
