Broward County Transit (BCT) will partner with the Broward Supervisor of Elections Office to encourage citizens who use transit to register and vote. BCT and the Supervisor of Elections Office began the voter registration initiative in 2002 and have held it every two years since.
The voter registration event will be held at the Broward Central Terminal at Broward Boulevard and Northwest First Street in downtown Fort Lauderdale, on Monday, July 9, 2012, in time to be eligible to vote in the August 14, 2012, primary. Registration will be from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
“We are pleased to partner again with Broward County Transit to inform our citizens of new voting guidelines and to provide a convenient way for busy transit riders to register to vote as well as update their voting information,” said Gino Herring, voter education director for the Broward Supervisor of Elections Office. “We believe our presence at the terminal, as in years past, will be a visible reminder to citizens to register and vote.”
BCT and the Supervisor of Elections Office will have two more voter registration events prior to the November General Election. While voter registration is for the convenience of transit riders, the general public is encouraged to come to the location and register as well.
