Broward County residents are invited to submit written comments as well as participate in a listening session regarding the 2013 Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program reauthorization administered by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), which funds the largest federal program specifically dedicated to providing HIV care and treatment.

Locally, Broward County is one of the original 16 eligible metropolitan areas established by  HRSA under the Ryan White Part A Program in 1991. This funding has enabled the County's Ryan White Part A Program to provide critical life-saving health and support services to more than 7,000 consumers annually through a community partnership of funded providers. The County's current Part A award is $15,390,658 and includes funding under Part A and Minority AIDS Initiative. The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program is up for reauthorization by the U.S. Congress in 2013.

The live listening session will be held Monday, July 9, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. via webcasting. Residents can also submit written comments regarding reauthorization of the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program by July 31.

Leonard Jones, Ryan White Part A Program manager, said, "The voice of residents, particularly consumers and those impacted, is vital to the reauthorization of the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program. Our funder, HRSA, has encouraged stakeholders, including grantees, advocacy organizations, state and local administrators to take an active part in the reauthorization by providing comments on all aspects of the program in terms of its benefits."

For more information about the Ryan White Part A Program and how you can participate, call Leonard Jones at 954-357-5390 or email
