Library Customers Can Access "Freegal" to Get Free Tunes from BCL

Music lovers, rejoice! Freegal Music, a service offered by Broward County Library that lets you download hit music for free, has now increased the number of weekly customer downloads from three to five. Access hundreds of thousands of songs in the Sony Music catalog - for free! Downloads are in MP3 format and will work with any MP3 player including iPod. Songs can be loaded into iTunes, and it works on both PCs and Macs. You can also use Freegal to keep track of your downloads and listen to sample clips before downloading.

In addition to offering Freegal, Broward County Library (BCL) has always been your go-to place for free music, with thousands of CDs available for loan from every genre around the world, including the newest rock, rap, rhythm and blues, classical, children’s music and more. Most can be checked out for a three-week period.

The award-winning Broward County Libraries Division, founded in 1974, is the ninth largest library system in the nation by population served and one of the busiest, with more than 9 million walk-in customers visiting its 37 locations annually. The library has more than 3.4 million items and 2,000 computers for public use and offers hundreds of events and programs to meet the needs of the Broward County's diverse community. The library continues its strong emphasis on literacy, after-school programs and electronic access.
