“America Recycles Day” is celebrated nationally to encourage Americans to make a commitment to the environment by recycling and buying recycled products.
“America Recycles Day provides a great opportunity to spread the word about the importance of recycling, and how the combined efforts of individuals can result in big changes for the environment,” said Elliott Auerhahn, director, Solid Waste and Recycling Services. “We’re proud to present an array of exciting programs that promote environmental stewardship by reaching all age groups with activities designed to educate, entertain and inform.”
Broward County Solid Waste and Recycling Services and Partner Cities commemorate the importance of America Recycles Day with these events throughout November:
Saturday, November 12, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Highlights include a tree giveaway, fuel-efficient car show, pet adoptions, Salvation Army clothing drive, and games and prizes for kids including a bounce house, face painting and craft-making with recyclables. Electronics drop-off includes free admission and a chance to win a refurbished laptop computer.
