BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. - Now is the season when we all look forward to holiday time together with loved ones and friends and give extra special thought across the miles to those who can’t be with us. But this year, why not make the celebrations extra special by giving a pet a permanent loving home for the holidays?

Beginning Friday, November 8, and continuing through Tuesday, December 31, Broward County Animal Care, 1870 S.W., 39 St.,
Fort Lauderdale, will host a special “Home for the Holidays” promotion. Residents will be able to adopt a dog for $25 — that's half off the usual $50 adoption fee! Feline lovers will be able to save money when they adopt two cats/kittens for $12. The promotion will also include all cats available for adoption at Pet Supermarket stores located in Broward County.

“With our shelter at capacity, right now we really need the community to rally for our pets and give them a much-deserved home this holiday season. This promotion is the perfect way to remind residents that there are wonderful dogs and cats in our care who are longing for a home of their own,” said Animal Care's Public Education Coordinator Lisa Mendheim. “Now is the time when residents can truly can make a difference in the life of a homeless pet, giving them not just a home for the holidays, but a forever home.”

Each adopted pet is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, registered and micro-chipped, a value of more than $250.
